Well, we survived the end of the world and it’s 2013. It’s hard to believe we’re already 3 days into it. Anybody else think that 2012 went by like a blur? As fast as it seemed to go by, a lot happened last year.
In sports, we saw a sad end of 2 Steeler’s seasons, as well as another Pirate’s losing season and yet another NHL lockout. So, obviously not a good year for Pittsburgh sports, but what about the rest of the country? The NY Giants won the Super Bowl, the Miami Heat won the NBA Championship, the San Francisco Giants won the World Series, and the LA Kings won the Stanley Cup. In college, Alabama won the BCS Championship, and Kentucky won the March Madness NCAA Tournament.
In entertainment, The Artist won Best Picture, Jean Dujardin won Best Actor, Meryl Streep won Best Actress, and Rango won Best Animated Feature, all at the Academy Awards. At the Grammy Awards, Adele won Song of the Year with “Rolling in the Deep,” as well as Album of the Year with “21,” and Bon Iver won Best New Artist.
In major events, Barack Obama won re-election over Republican Mitt Romney, the 2012 Olympics were held in London, the tragedies in Aurora, Colorado and Sandy Hook, Connecticut shook the nation, and December 21st did not bring the end of the world.
Looking back, it’s been a pretty interesting but usual year for America. I look forward to seeing what 2013 brings for us. At least we know we won’t have to push through the political advertisements. But, for everyone here at Tomahawk Talk, I’d like to say goodbye to 2012, and hello to 2013.
