Running is a great way to stay in shape for any sport and does your body a lot of good. But running with the wrong running shoe can hurt you more than what it would help. I’m here with some tips on how to find the best running shoe for you and some recommendations to get you started if you’re looking to purchase a pair. Let’s start with the heel. The shoe should be snug on your heel but not tight. Your heel should be able to move around a bit but not to the point where it is uncomfortable. The instep, or the upper part of your foot should be snug and secure. If the running shoe you have now feels too tight on the instep try some different lacing techniques before moving on to another shoe.
As far as width goes, your foot should be able to move side to side without crossing over the edge of the insole. If the shoe is too narrow, you’ll feel the base of your little toe sitting on the edge of the shoe last. When you run, your feet tend to swell so you’ll always need a little extra room not only for width but for length as well. You should have a thumbs width at the top of your shoe for length. Follow all of those rules and you’ll find the perfect running shoe for you.
