Breaking Records in the Field

Congratulations to Sarah Wozniak on her record breaking accomplishment. Sarah broke UHS record for shot put. For 10 years this record had lasted with a throw of 35 feet “4” inches. On April 12 Sarah threw a record breaking throw of 35 feet “‘9” inches. When we sat down with Sarah she told us how excited she was. Sarah has been trying to beat this record since the beginning of the year because she was so close. On April 26 Sarah had broken her record again with a throw of 36 feet “11” inches.

Sarah has been on the Track and Field team for three years. Since freshmen year she feels like she has gotten a lot better over the years. Sarah has qualified for the county meet that will be held on April 30. Sarah has also qualified for WPIAL. We asked Sarah what college she would like to attend.  She is deciding between St. Vincent and West Minster. Sarah would like to study science when she attends school. Sarah is unsure if she will continue with track and field because Sarah is also excellent at volleyball and would like to continue that sport in college.

Sarah attends Mr. Lion’s gym NLAD (New Level Athletic Development). Sarah has been attending this gym for four years now. Sarah participates in NLAD because it helps her improve. The exercises that Sarah does to help her improve are deadlift, squats, bench, and agility training. Sarah would like to recommend this program to others so that you can also improve.

Following is a video clip from Sarah’s first record breaking throw.
