This past week our very own Uniontown Area High School Cross Country team went to WPIALS. They ended up taking 18 students from the high school combined boys and girls. They took 10 boys ranging from freshman to seniors same goes for girls but they only took 8. The meet was held at Slippery Rock University on October 27th. Despite the rainy weather, dozens of schools across Western PA attended. The extremely muddy and windy conditions called for a very strong competition. Overall, it was a great end to a successful season.
The race was a very tough one for our teams but they are strong individuals and powered threw even though weather conditions made it immensely tough. It was a great race for all students running from our school. Each one was giving there all especially the seniors in which case that race could be their very last race. Out of the 18 Students who ran for our high school two of them qualified for states. Madison Bertovich for the girls team and Cameron Kutek for the boys are each heading on there way to states. Both Madison and Cameron are Juniors at Uniontown Area High School. The whole team trains hard always and wants to keep the wins up for next year coming into meets with a high momentum to power them through all the way to the end.
The end of the season is upon them and for most it is already over. The boys team at the meet was awarded with their Section Champ plaque which will also add another year on their banner in the gymnasium. It will be the fourth year in a row they have won sections and the banner will read in a row 2013,2014,2015,2016. It was a great season for the team and thank you seniors for all the hard work and winning all four years that you ran for the high school. Great year to everyone and I’m excited to see how next year turns out thank you to everyone wait to run your hardest.
