One student plans on starting his Eagle Scout this spring and that’s junior Jake Metts of troop 687 of Farmington. Jake has been a scout since 6th grade and hopes his project will impact his community. Jake plans on restoring The Flag Retirement Grounds at the American Legion Post 51.
Jake said ” They were just using a rusty old fire ring and I felt it deserves better.” After he restores the grounds, he hopes that the flags in the future will get a proper retirement they deserve. He also has his troop and some of his friends there to help him achieve his goal.
When he’s not at Scouts, Jake is involved with Junior Class as an Officer and a Student Council Member. After he graduates, he plans on going to West Virginia University for Political Science.
