How To: Cinnamon Chip Panera Bread Scones

With the cold weather finally here, make some scones to go with hot chocolate to keep warm on these winter days! These scones are delicious and are sure to be a recipe you’ll make again in the future!

3¼ cups of flour
1/3 cup and 2 tablespoons of sugar, divided
2½ teaspoons of baking powder
½ teaspoon of baking soda
½ teaspoon of salt
¾ cup of cold butter, cubed
1 cup of buttermilk
1 package (10 ounces) of cinnamon baking chips
2 tablespoons of butter that has been melted

In a large bowl, combine the flour, 1/3 cup of sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in buttermilk until just moistened and put in the cinnamon chips. Turn onto lightly floured surface and knead gently 10-12 times until dough is no longer sticky. Divide in half and gently pat or roll each portion into a 7 inch circle. Brush with butter and sprinkle with sugar. Cut each wedge into 6 slices. Separate wedges on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 425° for 10- 13 minutes until lightly brown. Serve warm. Makes 1 dozen!

If you really want to make this treat delicious, add a confectioner’s sugar glaze on the scones as soon as they come out of the oven!
