As you read this poem, I ask you not to think of it as an entry to a contest. But as a heartfelt thank-you, dedicated to every teacher that is and ever was a Uniontown Red Raider.
As a teacher you have a grave responsibility.
Proving to children the world is more than what they see.
Telling them they can be anything they want to be.
Speaking life and prosperity
Spreading real love and great prudence.
See teacher, you are just like the preacher.
Except your Sunday, is Monday through Friday.
For 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year, your teachings are the water in the pool pit.
And with every service, you bless a student.
Showing them that bliss doesn’t come when ignorant.
It takes teachers who give encouragement,
like Ms. Dreucci and Mrs. Ritenour
who make these hour
and 30 minute classes worth showing up to.
So please, do not
give up your fight in this war.
Continue to enlighten
because Today’s Society, has declared World War 3.
And we as students have a lot of casualties.
With this calling, there are no “ifs ands or maybes.”
Your hands help shape someone’s babies.
This job is not to be taken lightly.
Where parents fail, teachers fill,
It’s like the book, Tuesdays with Morrie.
A great teacher can lead to a successful story.
So here’s to all the teachers who don’t take advantage of their authority.
To the teachers who show compassion for students, no matter how challenged their brain may be.
Know that you have the power to change history.
Know you have the power to change a life.
And just like a man with a wife,
a child who has a teacher, has a good thing.
So, in case you were wondering
how much you’re worth.
You are one of the most important people on the face of this earth.
Yes this job can be tough. From student to teacher, I see how rough.
So from the bottom of my heart, I can’t thank you enough.
And I really appreciate you, and everything that you do for us.
