Tony Dyson the man who built R2D2 droid for the Star Wars films has died age 68. The star died at his home on the Maltese island of Gozo. He also built eight versions of the robot character used throughout the original trilogy. Four were remote controlled, two allowed actor Kenneth Baker to sit inside and two were non working models. The Force Awakens featuring Tysons droid hauled in $2 billion at the global box office making it the third highest grossing film of all time. Outside film Tony owned a toy company and designed prototype robots for Sony.
