Scholastic Art and Writing

On January 15 2016,  about 200-300 students from Fayette, Greene and Washington county sent in their own pieces of art to be judged at California University PA where their art is featured in a juried art exhibit and they are recognized in a special awards ceremony. The young artist have a chance to make it to the National Awards Program if they earn a Gold Key in regional level. Eight students from our high school entered the contest; Tehya Barbarosa, Noelle Elliot, Nicole Bevard, Nick Burgess, Matthew Michelangelo, Jennifer Bell, Abbi Felix, and Chynna Ely-Ezra.

On February 14, the winners were announced and Chynna Ely-Ezra had won herself a gold medal in her piece “Freed Soul”. Her piece was sent to New York to be evaluated but did not make it to nationals.  The art shown was beautiful and clearly made by talented young artist, many winning silver medals and a honorable mention.
