The busiest weeks of the school year are here – the last few weeks. These weeks are full of events and excitement. There are only seven full days of school left along with the shortened last day of school. The last day of school for students in Tuesday, May 31st. Students have Friday May, 27th off which is a clerical day, and May 30th off, which is Memorial Day. This is the first school year in a while that we have no snow days to make up at the end of the year. It’s also the first year in a long time that the last day of school is in May.
The last two weeks of the school year, students are taking both Keystone State Exams and Final Exams. Keystones are being administered for six consecutive school days beginning on Monday, May 16th. Subjects that have Keystones are Literature, Algebra One, and Biology. Also, teachers will be giving final exams for their classes the week of May 23rd. When finals are being given, the end is in sight.
Along with the end of the school year comes a variety of events going on at the school. On Wednesday, May 18th, students in Mr. Rabatin’s physics class attended Kennywood. On Thursday, those students that qualified attended the WPIAL Finals track meet. Next week becomes even more hectic. Along with finals being given, those in the National Honors Society will be recognized. The National Honors society recognition, along with the awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 24th. On the 26th, the last full day of school, the badminton tournament will be held in the gym. And that leaves only May 31st, the last day of school, when report cards will be given.
