Senior Project Showcase: Stu Jenkins

Stu Jenkins job shadowed at Dearth motors mechanic shop for his senior project. We asked him what his reason was for choosing this project was and he said it was because it was his grandfathers garage and he thought it would be a great learning experience. During his time there he learned multiple skills that he will use for the rest of his life like changing the oil and a tire on a car, or changing the brake pads.

In order for him to get the amount of hours he needed, he went on every Tuesday for three hours till he got the fifty hours he needed. When we asked his opinion on this job he said that he would not want to pursue this as a career because of the physical labor behind it, it is very rough on your back and knees, but he said it was a great learning experience and he doesn’t regret choosing this to do for his project.

Stu Jenkins said it is a great idea for everyone to learn as much about cars as you can because it is something that you will be dealing with for the rest of your life. Knowing about cars and how they function could benefit you in the future if something occurs. We asked Stu for a piece of advice for underclassmen doing their projects and he said “Get your project done and out of the way as soon as possible so you don’t stress getting everything together when the time comes”.
