Senior Spotlight: Phawn Varndell

Activites: Swimming, Softball recreational league, member of NTHS and SkillsUSA

Future Plans: I would like to do something in the child care industry but I’m unsure of the exact path I will be pursuing. I’m currently working in the Kidz Klub department at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and plan to continue my job there until I have a clear vision of my future.

Fun Fact: “I have a niece named Karlie and a nephew named Greyson.”

Favorite Quote: “Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” -Winnie the Pooh

Advice to upcoming seniors: “Don’t let other kids at school ruin your chances at success because reality is that after you graduate nothing they said or did matters anyway.”

Thoughts on senior year ending so abruptly: “It’s disappointing not being able to have a real graduation ceremony, but I’m ready to move on and have a successful future.”

Shout Outs/Thank Yous:

Thank you to my wonderful parents Holly and Phil Varndell for always encouraging me to do my best in school. They were my biggest support system and would help me with everything and anything I needed. Anytime I needed something for school they would make sure that I had it. They would literally put whatever it was that they were doing on hold to make sure I didn’t go without. Whether it was a ride to and from sports or helping me finish a homework assignment late at night to turn in the next morning. I could always count on them. I’m so thankful to have the parents that I do because without them I would not be who I am today. I love you guys so much.

I would also like to thank my sisters Phaith, Philecia, and Philisity. Anytime I needed advice or even just to talk and get things off my chest they were always there for me. I can’t imagine not having you guys in my life. I love you.

A great big thank you to my Nunna, Aunt Bobbie, and PapPap for giving me rides to and from sports practices when my parents were not able. And anytime I needed tutoring for class my Aunt Bobbie always gave me the help I needed. I love you all and couldn’t have done it without you.

Thank you to anyone not mentioned that has helped me in any way.
