Field Trip:  The following students will be attending an open heart observation today:  Lindsay LeBedda, Haley Peck, Katie Baily, Jordan Guthrie, Evan Klatt, Jack Killinger, Tattiana Lawson, Colton Layhue, Caleb Patton, Alec Sharp, Brittany Smitley, Jesse Yensick, Alexis Wivell.  Please do not mark them absent.

Challenge Awards:  11th graders that completed community service last school year need to see Mrs. Kezmarsky to be eligible for the challenge award.

 Digital Publishing:  Photographer’s Forum magazine is hosting a contest for high school students.  Prizes include over $400 in grants plus a new Nikon camera.  Contest information can be found at or pick up a form from Mrs. Marzano in room 125.

 School Pictures:  Deadline for returning school picture orders is October 1.  Return to Mrs. Guthrie in the main office.

 National Honor Society:  Members are reminded to see Mrs. Caromano to vote for officers.  Voting begins today – ends October 2.

 Rotary Luncheon: Deanna Hager and Paul Klatt will be attending the rotary luncheon every Tuesday in October, they will leave approximately 11:30.

 Student Council, SADD, Interact:  There will be a Student Council meeting for all members in the cafeteria on Thursday, October 2, during the extended homeroom period.  Elected President or Vice President of homerooms are responsible for attending.

 SADD and Interact Club sign-ups will also be held. Any student interested in joining should attend.

 Scholarships:  Any senior planning to attend Pittsburgh Technical Institute in the fall and is a member of FBLA, Skills USA, or National Honor Society may apply for a scholarship.

 Students interested in Boston University or University of Virginia should see Mrs. Baker about nomination guidelines.

The Horatio Alger Scholarship is available for students with minimum 2.0 GPA and financial need.

 Junior & senior class officers can be eligible to attend the US Senate Youth Washington Week in March.

 Early application deadline & scholarship consideration for the University of Akron is November 1.

 The Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship is available to high-achieving seniors. You must have a 3.5 GPA and minimum SAT score of 1200.

 FBLA scholarship available.

 Senior Project:  Any senior that has changed their senior project must submit a Letter of Intent by October 1.  Any questions please see Mrs. Baker or Mr. Brown.

 PSAT:  Any college bound junior or sophomore should take the PSAT.  The test will be given during the school day on Wednesday, October 15.  The fee is $10.  Space is limited so please register with Mrs. Baker asap.

 Writing Contest:  Waynesburg University is holding a new writing contest for high school students.  It will be held at the university on Saturday, November 1.  Students will participate in a press conference and write a feature article based on the information.  Winners will be awarded cash prizes.  For more information, see Mrs. Marzano in room 125.

 Future Teachers of America: Any student interested in a career in the field of education can join the Future Teachers of America.  Sign up in the guidance office.

 College Visit:  There will be a representative available from Wheeling Jesuit University on Wednesday, October 1st, during lunches.

 There will be a representative available from Slippery Rock University on Friday, October 3, during lunches.
