Over the past decade, Mrs. Buchanan’s Spanish 3 class has come together every year to put on the greatest display of fashion Uniontown has ever seen. Students are tasked with assembling into groups, selecting a theme, and then reciting descriptions, in Spanish, describing their costumes.
Students utilized the video studio located in the Gismondi Center for Media Arts. They selected background graphics that related to their chosen outfit or costume. Students were filmed in front of a green screen and their background was super-imposed behind them.
They do this because Mrs. Buchanan believes that being able to actually know what we’re talking about and not reading directly off a paper can provide much help to students in learning to speak Spanish, as opposed to just reading it. Beyond that however, she said it was simply fun to watch students make up costumes.
