The State Theater has been a pillar in Fayette County’s community since 1922, showing movies, musicals, and plays for almost a century. While the theater is now mostly used for live shows like the annual summer musicals and live bands, once a month they do a showing of a classic movie that everyone can come and enjoy. While they do only show classic movies, they are still from a wide range of eras. They’ve played film noir classics like Laura, but also more modern classics like Rocky Horror Picture Show that will definitively leave you feeling nostalgic.
They have two showings of the film, one at 2:00 pm and one at 7:00 pm, and tickets are only $3 for us students and $5 for adults! It is way more affordable than a normal movie theater and you get to be surrounded by the beauty and vintage atmosphere of the State Theater. However, unlike our modern movie theaters, there isn’t twenty minutes of previews before the film, so be on time! Snacks and candy are sold in the lobby, and they have games or raffles where you can win gift cards to restaurants or other businesses. So, if you’re looking for something to do, go to the State Theater, buy some candy, and enjoy a show!
