Student Teacher: Ms. Lowery

Ms. Lowery is the student teacher with Mrs Ritenour for this semester. She graduated from Laurel Highlands. Currently she is attending California University of Pennsylvania. She has always enjoyed school and learning and felt at home when coming to school. She had teachers who inspire her to become a teacher and hopefully change and enrich students. She is currently teaching Honors English 10.

She has always been passionate about reading and writing. “English was always the subject that I was best at,” she said. It made sense when choosing English as something she wanted to further herself in. She would like to teach at least each grade once (7-12) but, she would like to teach 10th and 11th. Her favorite thing about teaching is being able to share her love for English and getting to know the students and helping them learn.

Probably the hardest thing to teach students to love appreciate reading. Students sometimes forget that reading can be fun and exciting, so she would like to show and encourage reading for fun. Before student teaching, she has had a limited experience with students at this age. She has worked with a few at her job but so far her experience is going really well. She is trying new ways to make learning fun where it fits with her lesson. If she can find a fun activity to do in class that will enhance student learning and make the experience more memorable.
