Teacher of the Week: Mrs. Smith

What do you teach and how long have you been at UHS?

“I currently teach the supplemental learning support class. I previously co-taught Algebra 1 classes. This is my 7th year at UHS.”

What do you enjoy about teaching at UHS?

“I love all the students! There are so many wonderful young people here that will do great things after graduation. I like being able to help students find various ways of learning things.”

Where did you attend college and where else have you worked?

“I attended Penn State for my bachelors degree and then attended California University of Pennsylvania for my masters degree in teaching. Prior to teaching, I was a child, adolescent and family counselor/therapist.”

Was teaching the job you dreamed of?

“Since I was a child, which was a long time ago, I loved helping others and enjoy working with the students.”

What do you like to do in your spare time?

“I spend a lot of my summer traveling, swimming, boating, and camping. Most of all I love spending time with my two beautiful grandchildren.”

What inspired you to become a teacher?

“I enjoy helping those students that struggle.”
