The Binding of Isaac Afterbirth Review

Edmund McMillen’s game, The Binding of Isaac had a newer updated release and it’s fantastic.  The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a randomly generated action RPG shooter with heavy roguelike elements. Players will play as Isaac and a variety of characters in a quest to escape mother (Which is Isaac’s mom),  facing off against hundreds of dangerous foe, discovering secrets, and fighting fearsome bosses. Along the way, Isaac can find 200+ unique items that change his form and give him many different abilities. Rebirth is the remake of the original game. It’s a easy to run game that the oldest of computers can run at 60 FPS, new pixel style artwork, polished visual effects, and a new soundtrack. Oh yeah, and hundreds of new rooms, synergies, and re-tuned enhancements.

The game also has a must have DLC called Afterbirth which adds 100+ items, 2 new characters, new bosses, new endings, more rooms, new alternate chapters, and more challenges. Let’s just say it’s definitely worth its price. The game is set to get another DLC call Afterbirth † which add even more bosses, transformations, and most importantly items. The game also features a small co-op mode allowing for a friend to jump in as one of Isaac’s siblings, taking one heart from the First player. The second player can’t pick up or use items they can only attack enemies and can’t be killed.  The game is a blast by its self but when you add it’s DLC it becomes even greater. The endings leave the player wondering what the ending meant and what’s next. I say the game is definitely worth a play.
