TV Review: “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist”

On January 7th the show “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” premiered on NBC at 10 pm (EST). And might I say, NBC started the new year off with a bang!

Zoey Clarke (played by Jane Levy) is a young computer coder forging her way in the tech world of San Francisco. After an unexpected event, she finds she can now hear the innermost wants and desires of the people around her through music. (NBC.com) So, essentially, she’s a mind-reader, but she can only hear people’s thoughts through music.

As strange as the plot sounds, the writers and actors portrayed the odd idea in the most beautiful way. The show has a wonderfully put together soundtrack consisting of popular known songs, and holds a talented cast of singers/actors. Every element from the acting, to the music, to even the smallest details work together in harmony to create a beautiful, emotional roller coaster of an episode.

From a personal standpoint: I am absolutely in love with this TV show! As an avid movie/TV show fan, I watch a large amount of television. I can comfortably say I watch well over 100 movies/TV shows a year, and that’s being modest. Not very often do I fall in love with a show on episode one, but “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” made it happen! It made me laugh, smile, and even cry all within it’s 1 hour airing.

Personally, I give it an 8/10 for the extraordinary work put into such an amazing premiere, but, if you can’t take my word for it, below is a list of reviews from well-known and trusted sources:
