On Tuesday Saturday September 24th the cross country team traveled to Connellsville to face Laurel Highlands, Albert Gallatin, Connellsville, and Ringgold. The boys beat all teams except Ringgold walking away from the regular season with a record of 9 wins and 1 loss. The girls came in to the meet with one loss and defeated all of the teams giving the girls a record of 9 wins and 1 loss. This is the first time the girls have been section champs or co-champs since they tied with two other teams in over 10 years.
There is a tradition between Uniontown and Laural Highlands cross country teams for the “town cup”. Over a decade ago, coach Joe Everhart purchased a trophy (as shown in featured image) that the winners between the two schools claim and get their year engraved on it. As stated above both boys and girls beat Laurel Highlands at the meet so they both brought home the town cup.
“We came out and gave it our all, we walked away with our heads held high and the town cup in our hands.”-Nathan Lucy.
