We talked to UHS students who are studying both in-person and remote and asked them how they felt about having to wear a mask and these were their responses.
“I feel that you should wear them in school most of the time but if it gets to the point where we have to wear them at home then I don’t agree with that because we live with most our family members so eventually they’re going to catch it if we did. You should keep your distance from them as much as you can but the masks are going to help in a close area.”
“I don’t mind wearing the masks. It’s just a precaution set in place for our safety.”
“I like wearing the masks, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. It keeps me and my fellow students safe.”
“I personally don’t mind the mask, I’ve been wearing them for almost a year now. I wear one at work too so I’ve gotten used to it. I was really struggling without a routine and being at home I wasn’t able to take the time necessary to fulfill the needs of my assignments etc. Being back in person has been a complete game changer and I’m finally doing well in school again. I also get to see my friends. They may be 6 feet away from me but being able to see them and hear their voices makes me feel like we have some normalcy again.”
“I feel like the mask helps protect us from the virus, but I miss seeing everyone’s smiles.”
“I’m not really to happy about it because it’s my senior year and we can’t do much of anything which is also really boring. We haven’t had a dance so far at all this year nor do I think we will have a prom.”
