The Uniontown Red Raiders faced the Deer Lakes Lancers in a 3A Big East conference match-up on September 6th. Uniontown came off a loss against Yough (Hermine, PA), While Deer Lakes came off a loss against Elizabeth Forward (Elizabeth, PA). Uniontown came up a bit short after losing 35-13. The first time Uniontown played Deer Lakes was last year after Uniontown re-classed to 3A. They were previously in 4A. Uniontown is 0-2 against Deer Lakes for the past two seasons.
The Lancers Quarterback, Aris Hasley, put his team in position to win by throwing for 285 yards and 5 passing touchdowns. It wasn’t easy for Hasley. Red Raiders’ Torry Robinson and Javon Davis both intercepted Hasley. Uniontown’s Defensive line put a lot of pressure on Hasley as well with Ken Toasi, Christian Perkins, Cam Walton, and Josh Braxton all sacking the quarterback multiple times each. The Lancers relied mostly on their pass game because of their struggling run game with only a total of 39 yards. Uniontown was the complete opposite. Uniontown had over 140 yards rushing, but only had 92 yards passing with 3 interceptions. Uniontown’s touchdowns both were scored on the ground with a 11 yard run by Javon Davis and 2 yard run by Cj Soltis.
Uniontown Head coach Lloyd on the loss.”We had too many penalties when we was in scoring position. 11 penalties we had when we were in scoring position. If we wanna win we have to be more discipline. We gave effort this time around. If we continue to give effort like this we can win. If we didn’t blow our coverages we would’ve been in this game.” Uniontown will play the Burrell Bucs on 9/13/19 at home.
