University of Pittsburgh’s Engineering for Women Day

The high school Outreach Chair for University of Pittsburgh’s Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Emily Zuris, is spreading the news of a free engineering event! All girls in grades 10-12, who are interested in engineering, have the opportunity to take an in depth look at the subject and hear from women attending Pitt’s Engineering School.

The event is to be held Saturday, March 21st, from 1-9 p.m. at Benedum Hall (3700 O’Hara Street, Pittsburgh PA 15213). Girls attending will get the chance to tour the engineering school, various lab tours, presentations from different engineering majors and professional engineers, a tour of the freshman engineering dorm, an activity in Pitt’s main Makerspace, a catered dinner, and plenty of time to interact with current college students! Each high school girl will be paired up with a college mentor ahead of time who they can connect with prior to the event and spend the day with.

Parents/Guardians are also invited! From about 1-5 pm parents will have the opportunity to hear from a current engineer, a panel of students and professionals, and a representative from financial aid. Parents can also tour the engineering school with the engineering ambassadors. There will be plenty of time to ask any questions you may have about the school, program, or facilities. The parent session is optional, but highly encouraged!
