UHS is proud to announce a new program for students and teachers. Yoga classes will begin on November 15 and will be held after school. The class for teachers will be held on Tuesdays and a class for students will be on Thursdays. Classes will take place in the art room and will last for 50 minutes. You do not need to attend every week, but rather can pop in when it’s best for you.
Certified yoga instructors from LPS Strength & Meditation will be conducting the classes. LPS believes that yoga can transform you by building strength, flexibility and endurance. Laura Patterson-Santore is a former competitive athlete who suffered orthopedic injuries and has found improvement in her regular practice of yoga. Brynn Cunningham is a UHS graduate who volunteers her time as a coach for our track team. She combines her passions for yoga and running. Both instructors will be donating their time as volunteer community hours to keep their certification. This enables the class to be free this year for students and teachers to participate.
A release form is required and can be picked up in the office or from Mrs. Howard. A yoga mat is also suggested as well as comfortable clothing.
