As the end of the summer was quickly approaching, the golf team was still not sure if they were going to have a 2020 golf season. Despite all of the uncertainty, the one thing that we knew for certain was that our team was prepared. Many members of the golf team participated in individual tournaments throughout the summer. The roster for the 2020 golf team was strong. It consisted of three seniors- Maddie Myers, Micheal Mercadante, and Nate Moody. Two juniors, Adena Rugola, and Gage Brugger. And lastly two freshman, Logan Voytish and Wade Brugger.
We held our breath until the decision was made that the season was going to proceed with a one week delay. Because of the delay, the season was condensed with the Tri-Cada invitational being cancelled. We were excited to start the season back in AAA. The first AAA section match for the red raiders was at Duck Hollow against Albert Gallatin. This first match back gave the red raiders a good feel on what the team needed to do to win in AAA. The team went on to do the necessary things to keep winning match after match.
All season we focused on playing consistent and posting good scores as a team. Our best team score at our home course, Uniontown country club is a 193. Our best team score away was at Cedarbrook gold course. The team shot a 199. This is a major accomplishment for the red raiders.
As the golf season was quickly coming to an end, it dawned on us that we were on our way to finish our season undefeated. Not only did we finish undefeated, we were also the 2020 AAA section champions. This season was very special to everyone on the team, and all of Uniontown golf team’s supporters. With every bump in the road there was not one person who didn’t support us throughout the years. The Uniontown golf team would not be experiencing all of this success if it weren’t for our coaches and family being by our side every step of the way. No matter how many times we fall, we will still rise, and that is exactly what the Uniontown golf team did this season.
