Artist of the Week: Donata Lancaster

Donata is a Freshman and a new member of the art club as well as the drama club. She just finished playing the role of Wednesday in the drama clubs production of The Addams Family. I decided to interview her to talk about her interests as well as her art.

Q: What is your favorite kind of art to make?
A: “My favorite kind of art is anything involving gouache, water color, and digital art. I love wacky, bright, and unique pieces. Something that sticks out.”

Q: What is your favorite thing about art?
A: “My favorite thing about art is how there really is no creative limit. You can do whatever you want, no no matter what you make as long as you love it that’s all that really matters.”

Q: What made you want to start creating art?
A: “It’s been a huge part of my life since the beginning. My parents are very creative people and always encouraged me to be the same but, I had this friend in third grade who I thought was amazing at drawing and it just inspired me so much that I started to draw constantly. Every year since it’s been my life and a hobby I never want to give up.”

Q: What do you enjoy doing other than creating art?
A: “Other than creating art, I love anything theater. Singing and acting is a huge passion of mine. I hope to get even better at it just like my art skills.”

Q: Do you think you would want to do something with art as a future career?
A: “Oh definitely, it has always been a dream of mine. I want to pursue anything involving the arts, or if that falls through my second option would be psychology.”
