Baseball Team Wins Their First Section Game

The baseball team faced off against Belle Vernon this Wednesday in their first section game of the year. Coming off a two game sweep from Belle Vernon last year the guys knew this game wasn’t going to be easy to win. They also knew that if they gave 100% they could win this game. With this mentality they were able to beat the Leopards 2-1 in a nail biter game.

Junior Christian Thomas started on the bump for Uniontown going for six innings and only allowing one run. He had an amazing game and his defense helped him out great. Austin Grego closed the game in the 7th inning allowing no hits to end the game. The Raiders played great defense through the whole game and the hard work they’ve been putting in started to show off a little.

On the flip side the Leopards started their ace senior Matthew Bamford on the mound. The Raiders struggled with their bats this game only tallying 2 hits. One from Colt Sparks another from Clay Dean. The raiders are going to be working on their hitting a lot so they can really start to take off. The Raiders are scheduled to face Belle Vernon again this Friday and they hope to keep their win streak going.
