Boys Baseball Game Five

The team has played their first four baseball games and are feeling pretty good as they stand tied for first in the section with a record of three wins and one loss. Two of our wins coming from the Belle Vernon Leopards, and one loss and our other win coming from the Greensburg Salem Lions. Yesterday we played the Elizabeth Forward Warriors in a tight match up. The games was close the whole way through. It was a nail bitter.

The first three innings were scoreless on both sides. The Raiders were putting the ball in play and hitting it hard but couldn’t find a gap anywhere. It was like no matter where the ball was hit there was someone standing at the exact spot. The Warriors on the other hand were able to get people on but we displayed strong defense to keep them scoreless as well. In the fourth inning we were able to put together a single run and go up one. Then in the fifth the Warriors scratched together two runs to put them up by one. Then in last inning with runners on we couldn’t manage to get them in, losing the game 2-1.

Christian Thomas threw all seven innings giving up only one earned run. Having hits for the Raiders was Christian Thomas with a single, Erick Odum with a single, Clay Dean had a single, and Colt Sparks with two singles. Today we play at Elizabeth Forward in a rematch game at 4:00. We hope to change the outcome and continue with a winning record. Go Red Raiders!
