Boys Baseball Game Seven

Last night the boys baseball team played the West Mifflin Titans. Going into the game Uniontown was 8-2 overall and 4-2 in section play. West Mifflin was 5-1 in section play. West Mifflin being in first place in the section and us only being one game behind means that with a win UHS would take the lead in the section. This game was huge.

In the first inning there was no action and no scores. This would remain throughout the second, third, and fourth inning. Then in the 5th inning sophomore Wyatt Nehls hit a double in the right center gap scoring pinch runner Thomas Rankin from second. The Raiders continued to play stellar defensively. Then in the 7th West Mifflin hit a triple to start the inning. That runner then scored putting the game into extra innings. In the 8th things went down for Raiders as West Mifflin scored 8 runs in that inning, leaving the us with almost no chance to come back. The game ended and we lost 9-1.

Even with the heart breaking loss the raiders played a great game. Junior Christian Thomas threw a great game, a perfect game until the 5th, giving up only three hits in seven innings. Erick Odum and Hunter Chaickic both had a single and Wyatt Nehls had a double for our three hits on the day. Today we play West Mifflin at West Mifflin in the second game of the series. If we win today it is just as big and puts us in great position in the section.
