Boy’s Basketball Playoff Bound

Athletic Director, Mr. Scott holds WPIAL Section Champion Plaque

The boys basketball team has played very well this year and after the season they are going to the playoffs. They’ve played hard and only ended up losing two games of the twenty two that they played. They started the season 6-0 almost blowing out most of the teams that they played, Albert Gallatin being the closest while they lost 60-52. And every other team lost by double digits or more until they played Penn-Trafford and ended up losing only by 4 in a 70-66 game.

A view of the student section as Uniontown hosted Laurel Highlands in a sell out crowd.

They would then go on 10 game winning streak after the lose to Penn-Trafford and play Laurel Highlands at home. LH is our biggest rivalry and every year the games against them are sold out the day tickets go on sale. The first game was very close and even ended up going into overtime, but we ended up losing 62-54. We would end up winning out the rest of the season beating LH this time at their home court winning by a blowout of 20 points in a 65-45 game.

Uniontown Red Raiders v Laurel Highlands Mustangs

They ended with a 20-2 record while not losing a game when being the away team. They went undefeated in their section 10-0 and will have a first round by going into the playoffs. Hopefully they continue to play as well as they have and at least go deep into the playoffs, unlike last year when we ended up losing in the first round.
