Concussions and How they Effect Your Brain

A concussion is a brain injury caused by a blow to the head or violent shaking of the head and body. Concussions are very serious and can effect your brain in many different ways. Everyone’s body can be effected differently depending on the extent of the injury. For example, a mild concussion can last around 2 to 3 weeks, but a serve concussion could effect someone for years.

The symptoms that are caused by a concussion vary in many different ways. The major symptoms are headaches, sensitivity to light, and confusion. These examples are not even half of the ways that a person may be effected. Resting and taking a break form physical activities is highly advised because it allows your body to relax and focus on healing. Lack of sleep is a struggle when dealing with a concussion and you must take the time to rest.

There are no specific cures for a concussion, but there are many different ways to help your brain heal. Physical therapy is the treatment of disease, injury, or deformity by physical methods such as massage, heat treatment, and exercise rather than by drugs or surgery. Physical therapists offer techniques and treatments to help get rid of the concussion pain. Concussion therapy can be a long process but healing correctly is what is most important.
