Fay West Honors Band is made up of a group of schools in Fayette and Westmoreland County. It is a local honors band that began in 2005 and is composed of talented students from across the districts. Though the participating schools have changed over the years, this year’s participants are from Albert Gallatin, Frazier, Uniontown, Laurel Highlands, Greater Latrobe, Belle Vernon, Greensburg Salem, Southmoreland, Mt. Pleasant, Jeannette, and Yough. The festival is being hosted at Laurel Highlands on Friday, January 21, 2021, at 7 p.m.
This will be Uniontown’s first year participating in Fay West Honors Band since Mr. Gerney took students in 2018. The students participating in this year’s event are Christian DeVincent, Isabelle Jones, Hope Powell, and Nathan Zsiros. This is a great opportunity for our students. Hope Powell is playing the flute, Nathan Zsiros is playing the clarinet, Isabelle Jones is playing the trumpet, and Christian DeVincent is playing percussion.
As a school, we are proud of their accomplishments and wish them well at the festival. Best of luck to all schools and all students participating. It’s a great opportunity to bring students from 11 different schools together for one goal. Music is one common bond between all students.
