February 27, 2013 – DAY 113

SCHOLARSHIPS:  If you are planning to major in nursing, teaching or engineering you must see Mrs. Kriebel or Ms. Marcinek immediately.

Please pay attention to due dates and make sure they are turned in early to be sure all documentation is included.

TEACHERS & STUDENTS:  There will be a meeting for the following students that are participating in the anti-tobacco program with Officer Garrow on Friday morning at 7:45 in the office conference room:  John Voyten, Nick Wilson, Julia Keffer, Lauren Palmar, Emily Keller, Zach Stashick, Sara Parker, Morgan Huncheuck, Bob Bebard.  Students should check into homeroom before attending the meeting.

STUDENTS & STAFF:  Please be sure to visit the “Bagels for Books” bake dale on Thursday during extended homeroom.  Enjoy a delicious donut or bagel all while helping out your high school library.  If will be set up near the cafeteria.  Thanks for your support!

FRESHMEN & SOPHOMORE STUDENTS:  Applications for the Upward Bound Program are available in the guidance office.  The no cost program provides academic assistance & support and college advisement.  Students must be college bound and live with parents/guardians who do not have a 4 year college degree.

COFFEE SHOP:  The coffee shop will be open tomorrow during activity period for freshmen & sophomores only.

SOFTBALL:  Softball conditioning today at Ben Franklin at 5:00 p.m.

FRENCH CLUB MEMBERS:  There will be  a French Club meeting in room 517 during his week’s extended homeroom.  We will discuss our field trip.  If you cannot attend, then please see Madame Thomas I room 517 ASAP.

FASFA:  All college bound students must fill out the FASFA to be eligible for scholarships, grants and to apply for student loans.  A representative will be in the library on Thursday Feb. 28th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to help parents fill out the FASFA online.  See Mrs. Kriebel or Ms. Marcink to get a list of information they need to bring and secure a spot.

TRACK & FIELD:  Track & field athletes, who did not attend the meeting, please see Mr. Girod or Mr. Piccolomini for a schedule.  Physicals are Thursday.  Make sure all CIPPE forms are turned in to the nurse.

SKI CLUB:  Trip Thursday to WISP bus will leave UHS at 3:00 p.m. and return at 10:15 p.m.  Lift tickets $21.00, rentals $19.00 transportation $10.00.  Sign up in office.

AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING:  Just a reminder, if you are planning to stay for tutoring after school and you ride a bus, you must let Mrs. Lane or Mrs. Smith know during homeroom.

SADD, INTERACT, STUDENT COUNCIL:  There will be a meeting for the SADD club, Interact Club and Student Council members during extended homeroom on Thursday, Feb. 28th in the cafeteria.  Please try to attend.

SPRING SPORTS PHYSICALS:  Physicals will be given on Thursday Feb. 28th at 8:45 a.m. in the health room.  You must have a completed CIPPE form turned into the nurse plus your blood pressure taken before Thursday, Feb. 28th.  Forms are available in the main office or health room.

PI DAY:  Any 9th or 10th grade student who is currently in Algebra II or has had Algebra 2 is invited to attend PiDay at Penn State Fayette on Thursday, march 14th   If you are interested, you must see Mrs. Vaccaro in room 301 for a permission slip.  The last day to obtain permission slips is Friday, March 1st.

SENIORS:  Penn State University is also hosting a Free Application Day here at UAHS has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 7, 2013. Please come to the guidance office to register for this session and to order your official transcript.
