History of Christmas

Christmas is one of the happiest holidays of the year, it is filled with joy and love all around. The celebration of Christmas started in Rome in about 336. And the first official mention of December 25th as a holiday honoring Jesus’ birthday appears in an early Roman calendar from 336 A.D. didn’t become a major Christian festival until the 9th century.

Most of the traditional things everyone does during Christmas like, decorating trees, started in Germany and layer spread to different parts of the world. The Christmas gift reminds us of how God gave us the gift of his son and that Jesus Christ gave us the greatest gift of all. Giving gifts is meant to be a symbol of love and kindness and remembrance of the gift of eternal life made possible by the Savior. That is why every year on Christmas we give out gifts to our loved ones and friends and why giving gifts is a trading.

Every year people get Christmas trees and we are supposed to put a tree topper on the tree of our choice. A lot of people chose to use an angel because they would symbolise the significance of the angels who appeared high above Bethlehem to joyfully announce Jesus’ birth on the first Christmas. They are also used to scare away evil spirits from people’s homes.
