Kamala Harris: The First Female Vice President

Since the first Vice President, John Adams, took the role in 1789, not a single woman has been the second in line for the presidency. Every single Vice President up to this point in time has been male. Now things are about to change. On January 20, 2021, Kamala Harris will become Vice President of the United States with Joe Biden as the President.

The battle for equality is not over, but this is a step in the right direction. The United States can now be seen as a country that tries to participate in inclusivity among its citizens. Kamala Harris is living proof that if you work hard you can achieve your dreams. She has made an enormous step in the fight for women’s rights.

Not only will she be the first woman, but also the first person of color to take the position of Vice President in this country. As a woman in America, watching this monumental time in history brings hopefulness for the future. Little girls can now see that it is possible to have someone like them in a place of power. They can now see it as an achievable dream, and that to me brings a new perspective to the world.
