Mallory Sanner: A National Champion

sannerUniontown Alumni Mallory Sanner is being recognized at this Friday’s home football game.  Mallory is the first collegiate national champion from  Uniontown Area School District.  She was awarded this honor by placing first in the nation for her javelin throw.

Mallory graduated from Uniontown in 2010.  Mallory is currently a senior at Seaton Hill University.  Mallory is majoring in Pre-K and Special Education.  She is also a member of the Seaton Hill’s Griffins basketball and track teams.

At Uniontown Mallory was on the track team her freshman, sophomore and senior years.  During her freshman and sophomore years Mallory placed 1st at the All County Meet.  During her senior year, Mallory placed second in the WPIAL and 5th in the state.

Mallory At Seaton Hill, Mallory had a tremendous spring last season throwing the javelin.  She  won the  West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) championship helping the Griffins to a team championship as well.  At the NCAA Division II Outdoor  Track and Field Championships,  Mallory set a new school and personal record— earning her NCAA All American Honors.  Mallory  is the first female at Seton Hill to  earn NCAA All American Honors and she was the top female  freshman at the event.  Mallory was also named an U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) All Academic honoree.  She has also been a member of the Seton Hill Dean’s  List for all five of her semesters and the women’s basketball team, with the past two seasons in the  Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll.
