PIC AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING STUDENTS:   On Thursday, March 21st, the Carnegie Science Center will be visiting the program for an interactive workshop.  Please confirm if you will be able to attend with Mrs. Lane or Mrs. Smith ASAP.

SENIOR PROJECTS OPPORTUNITIES:  How would you like to add Children’s Book Illustrator to your resume?  A local author is publishing a children’s book and needs help with illustrations.  This would be a great senior project.  See Mrs. Baker or Senior Project Idea Board in library for details.

DIGITAL PUBLSHING:  Tomahawk Talk is having two contests

  • March Madness Bracket Challenge
  • The Instagram Photo Contest

SKI CLUB TRIP:  Last ski club trip of the year on Friday to Hidden Valley.  Bus leaves UHS at 3:30 p.m. and will return to UHS at 10:00 p.m.  Lift tickets $15.00, Rentals $10.00 and transportation $8.00.

FACULTY & STUDENTS:  There will be a 5K run and walk at Penn State Fayette Saturday morning to benefit the Miracle League of Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands.  Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. at new campus cafeteria with the run starting at 1:00 a.m.

SOFTBALL PLAYERS:  Penn State Fayette is having a softball recruiting event on Wednesday, March 20th from 5:00 to 7:00.  Details are in the office.

SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS, & SENIORS:  $200.00 Community Service Awards – turn in your hours by the end of the third quarter to Mrs. Golden.  Write it down, hand it in!  Sponsored by the Challenge Program. Forms are in the guidance office.

JUNIOR & SENIOR CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS:  All are invited to an Athletic Open House Wednesday, March 20th at Penn State Fayette at 6:00 p.m.

ASVAB:  ASVAB results are in.  Please stop in guidance if; you took the test to get your results.

COFFEE SHOP:  The coffee shop will be open on Thursday for sophomores & freshmen.

JR/SR BOYS MR. UNIONTOWN PAGEANT:  All Jr/Sr boys interested in participating in Mr. Uniontown Pageant being held next Thursday, March 28 will be asked to attend the meting in extended homeroom March 21st.


  • Any student who signed up to work the blood drive Thursday March 21 is reminded to report to the gym during their assigned period.
  • Donors are to remain in class.  Volunteers will pick you up and make sure you safely return to class.

SADD DANCE:  The SADD club and any student at Uniontown High School is invited to attend the Spring Fling Dance.  The dance will be held at the Cabaret/Ivory Ballroom and the cost is $10.00.  The dance will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21.  Any proceeds from the dance will benefit the SAD clubs at Uniontown, Laurel Highlands, Albert Gallatin High School and the Career Technical Institute.  Any student from Uniontown, Laurel Highlands, Albert Gallatin and CTI SADD clubs is welcomed to attend.

DUAL ENROLLMENT FIELD TRIP:  Sophomore & Junior students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are eligible to explore Mt. Aloysius College on a field trip to Cresson, PA on April 25th. The day will include a tour and information on admissions, dual enrollment, and student life.  Permission slips are available in the guidance office and are due by April 4th. Space is limited.

FRESHMEN:   Fayette Career & Technical Institute is hosting a 9th Grade Exploratory Night on Wednesday, April 17th from 6 to 8 p.m. Students may explore 2 of 14 available programs. Refreshments will be provided. Sign-up early to be guaranteed a tee shirt.  An IPOD Touch & (2) IPOD NANO’s will be given away. Students are responsible for their own transportation; parents are welcome. Registration forms are available in the guidance office & are due by April 10th.
