What do you teach and how long have you been at UHS?
“I teach Art 1-4 and Ceramics. This is my 3rd year. I was at Ben Franklin for 10 years before coming here.”
What do you enjoy about teaching at UHS?
“So many things… number 1-the students, they are so bright and interesting and have really big hearts. The rest in no particular order: the faculty-we have a very dedicated group of teachers and administrators-all our other staff from the office to custodians are wonderful, the facility- the art rooms are the envy of every other art teacher I know, and the block schedule-it allows time to go really in depth.”
Where did you attend college and where else have you worked?
“I attended IUP, CUP, and received my Bachelors’ and teaching certification from Seton Hill University. In my first life I was Stable Manager, Trail Guide, and Riding Instructor at Nemacolin. I also raised 3 sons, which was a full time job! I am also a professional artist.”
What are your reactions to the renovation?
“I love it! Not only is my room incredible, but the whole school is bright, beautiful and open. It was hard to get here, we all had to deal with many distractions and messes, but it was worth it.”
Do you have any advice for UHS students?
“Find your passion, follow your dreams and do what you love. Life is not easy, but having a career that you love has great rewards. Also, strive to be a light to those around you.”
What do you like to do in your spare time?
“I am involved with the non-profit, Uniontown Arts Fellowship, we are striving to bring the arts to everyone in our community. I also love to spend time with my husband, we ride bicycles often. Being with my kids and my baby grandson is the highlight for me.”
