Teacher of the Week: Mrs. Marzano

What do you teach and how long have you been at UHS?

“This is my 9th year in the Business, Computer & Information Technology Department. I teach Photoshop, Graphic Design, Web Page Design, Accounting, Computer Applications, and the new Digital Publishing course.”

What do you enjoy about your courses?

“I love the creativity and seeing students learn new software skills.”

Where did you attend college and where else have you worked?

“My background is in Marketing and I worked for a company in Pittsburgh called Development Dimensions International. I studied at Robert Morris University.”

What are your reactions to the renovation?

“I think the former bus patio transformation is amazing, the cafeteria is now bright and open. My computer lab is nice and cool compared to the heat on the old fourth floor, so I’m happy.”

Do you have any advice for UHS students?

“Get involved and try new things so you can discover what your gifts are and become passionate about them. Let them guide your future plans so you love going to work some day.”

What do you like to do in your spare time?

“My favorite way to spend time is with my kids. I volunteer at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh on an auxiliary board that raises funds for patients in the Heart Institute. I also help my husband coordinate several local soccer camps in the summer.”

What is your favorite website?

“I’m tempted to say Pinterest but a lot of people would probably have the same answer since it’s so popular. We are remodeling our living room and I’ve been browsing Houzz a lot lately.”

  1. The website looks amazing! I love the little poll section where students can vote. Having an online newspaper was such a great idea!
