Teacher of the Week: Mrs. Ritenour

What do you teach and how long have you been at UHS?

“I teach AP English 12, Academic English 11 and Honors English. This is my 4th year here at UHS.”

What do you enjoy about teaching at UHS?

“I have always enjoyed my interactions with my students; getting to know them personally as well as academically makes my job so much more enjoyable.”

Where did you attend college and where else have you worked?

“I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with my Bachelor of Science in English Education and later received an Master of Arts in English Literature from there.

Before coming here, I worked as a day-to-day substitute at Connellsville, Southmoreland and Mt.Pleasant and then as a long term substitute at Connellsville.”

What are your reactions to the renovation?

“I think we made some much needed improvements (air conditioning is WONDERFUL!!!) but I also wish that we would have just built a brand new building from scratch.”

Do you have any advice for UHS students?

“Do your best each and every day because much of what you learn here will help you in the future.”

What do you like to do on your spare time?

“I love spending time with my family, renovating my house, reading and singing with my church choir.”

What is your favorite website?

“I’m on Facebook way too much!! Maybe my new favorite website will be Tomahawk Talk!”
