Mya Murray’s Life After Uniontown.

Mya Murray was a former student at Uniontown Area High school that graduated with the class of 2020. Mya decided to continue her education at the University of Brown and be a part of the girls basketball team. Mya was a four year varsity starter while playing at Uniontown and took her outstanding athletic abilities a little further to become apart of Brown’s starting five. Mya’s college freshman season was canceled due to Covid-19, so she is now starting her sophomore season of basketball. I got in contacted with Mya and was able to ask her a few questions.

Question #1. How many years have you been playing basketball?
Answer. “I’ve been playing basketball for 14 years now.”

Question #2. What is the name of the Brown Girl’s Basketball team?
Answer. “We are the Brown Bears.”

Question #3. How were you able to make your new friends at brown?
Answer. ” My freshman year of school and basketball was canceled and everything was online. I spent my summer before sophomore year on campus just like every other sophomore and I was able to become friends with the kids in my class. Being a part of the basketball team has also been an advantage for me to be able to meet new people as well.”

Question #4. Do you miss anything from Uniontown Area High school?
Answer. “I miss having the pep rally’s, those were always fun. I also miss being the student section leader and always being involved with school sports. “

Question #5. Do you miss anything from your hometown?
Answer. “Yes, I miss my family, my hometown friends, and my Momma Maruca’s family. “

Question #6. Do you have any advice for students that are getting ready to graduate and go to college?
Answer. “Pick a school that best fits you, and always try your best.”
