Nemacolin – Lady Luck Casino

By: Denny Peck

The Lady Luck Casino at Nemacolin Woodlands in Farmington, PA is still under construction.  The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) approved Nemacolin’s certificate to include the operation of 28 table games.  Lawmakers noted that offering table games will allow Nemacolin to compete with other casino resorts. The PGCB also issued the casino a Category 3 slot operator license in April.

The resort recently gave a presentation to the PGCB that the table games in the new casino would bring approximately 130 new jobs to Nemacolin Woodlands.  Many of these positions are only for dealers who are already being trained at a dealer school. The school is located adjacent to the casino. Training already began on February 11.

“All 11 of the other casinos in our state offer both slot machine and table game gambling,” Kasunic said. “They pay over 16,000 people and still make about $4 million dollars every day.” On Jan. 31, Kasunic and Mahoney testified in front of the gaming Control Board in support of licensing table games at Nemacolin.  Both were also present and supported the public hearing in Wharton Township.

Nemacolin was required by state laws to apply for a certificate in order to add table games. With the received approval, officials have said the casino plans to open this 2013 summer.  In addition to the table games, the Lady Luck casino plans call for 600 slot machines and two restaurants. The casino is planned to create 600 new jobs and produce over $30 million in a year in taxes for the state, county, and local governments.

Nemacolin Woodlands Resort is located in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.   Nemacolin Woodlands has a Four-Star rating and a Four-Diamond rating.  It is located on 3,000 acres. The whole resort features a total of 335 guestrooms, suites, townhouses, and private luxury homes.  It is one of North America’s favorite resorts to visit.
