On Wednesday March 13, 2013 at 7:07 PM at Vatican City history was made once again as the Catholics ushered in a new spiritual leader, Pope Francis. It took only two days of voting for the Cardinals to elect Argentina’s 76-year-old Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio on their fifth vote. He is the first non-European pope since the 8th century.
Pope Francis is a very respectable man, in 2001 he became a Cardinal and he did not want people spending money to fly to Rome to celebrate with him and he also advised that they should donate the funds they would have used to help alleviate people in poverty at there home country. He is known to live in an apartment, cook his own food, and travel by public transportation.
Pope Francis’s inaugural mass will be taking place sometime during this week or next week, no date has been set yet.
