OCTOBER 2, 2012 – DAY 26

STUDENTS & STAFF:  The Soles 4 Souls charity collects new and gently used shoes for people in need all over the world.  All types of shoes are acceptable and there is a drop off bin in the lunch room.  Please see Katie Burgess for any questions.

VOLLEYBALL:  Good luck to the girls volleyball team with a home section match tonight against Washington.  J.V. is at 6:00, varsity is at 7:00.  The team should be in the gym by 5:00.

BOYS SOCCER:  Good luck to the boys soccer team who plays Brownsville tonight at the stadium 7:00.

STUDENTS:  If you haven’t already turned in a lunch application, you MUST do so by Friday, Oct. 5th.  If not received in the cafeteria by that date, there will be a delay in your lunch status, at which time charges may be adding to your account.  You will be responsible to pay the charges until a new application is processed.

STUDENTS:  Any gifted support student or junior or senior student interested in pursuing a career in medicine sign up for the field trip to Allegheny General Hospital to observe open heart surgery.  Space for this field trip is limited and will be filled on a first come basis.  See Mrs. Vaccaro in room 301 to sign up and to get permission slips.

AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING:  Students staying for tutoring, report to room 506 at 2:45

DRAMA/MUSICAL CLUB:  Meeting Oct. 4th during extended homeroom – meeting in band room

  • 4 months left to choose for Calendar Party
  • Discussion on Chinese Auction items – decorations

SOPHOMORE’S:  Support your class “31 purse party” Thursday in our cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. – come see the purses and accessories for sale – Individual orders will be taken through Oct. 25th – specials involved.


ART CLUB:  If you would like to participate in the mural painting at Nemacolin after school on Tuesday, Oct. 2nd get your permission slips signed and turned in to Mrs. Gartley ASAP.

SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS & SENIORS:  The Balfour Representative will be at school to take class ring orders the following date and times:

  • Thursday, Oct. 4th during all lunch periods and from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M.  A $60.00 deposit is required and payment plans are available.  Additional packets are available in the office.  Don’t miss out on a Uniontown Tradition!

JUNIORS:  We are selling Sarris pretzels again and need you to help.  Students willing to sell please see Mrs. Crothers in room 310.  Top seller will receive a $50.00 gift card.

JUNIOR CLASS:  Junior class t-shirts will be on sale during A & B lunch Oct. 1st thru Oct. 5.  The cost is $10.00.  Don’t be the only one without one.

PSAT:  Students taking the PSAT on Oct. 20th please turn in your payment of $16.00 to Mrs. Bake by Oct. 5th.  If you think you qualify for a fee waiver, see Mrs. Baker ASAP.  Anyone who has not paid by Oct. 5 will not be able to take the test.

MATH TEAM:  The math team try out test will be administered during the extended homeroom on Oct. 4th in room 301.  If you are unable to take the exam on this day alternative dates are Tuesday, Oct. 2nd or Wed. Oct. 3 during lunches.  If you plan on taking the exam during lunch please make arrangements with Mrs. Vaccaro before hand.  Please note:  This is the only way to become a member of the math team you must take the placement exam on one of the three days offered.

BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS:  Big brothers/big sisters needs your help to mentor elementary students at Lafayette School.  This is a great opportunity to help a child and earn community service time.  If you would like to volunteer, see Mrs. Golden in the guidance office.

FBLA MEMBERS:  Please see Mrs. Hough in room 126 to pick up the Yum Yum Bakery fundraiser forms.  Orders and money will be due Monday, Oct. 22nd.

SADD:  Any student planning to join the SADD Club who is interested in participating in the Red Ribbon Walk is to see Mrs. Caromano for an application.  Student discounts are available until Oct. 10th.

FORENSICS:  Anyone interested in being on the forensics team should come to room 304 during homeroom this Thursday.
