OCTOBER 24, 2012 – DAY 40

BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS:  The following students are to report to a Big Brothers/Big Sisters meeting after reporting to homeroom Thursday, Oct. 25th in room 221:  Srey Crawford, Alexandria Crist, Paige Davidson, Noelle Elliott, Jordan Gibson, Madison Guseman, Courteny Hager, Johanna Mezikofsky, Aspen Phillips

CIPPE FORM & RECERT FORM:  Students participating in basketball r swimming.  Your CIPPE form or RECERT form must be turned into the nurse no later than tomorrow, Thursday, the nurse will not be her eon Friday.  Any forms not turned in tomorrow will not be accepted.  You will have to go to your own physician, Med Express, Walgreens or any other clinic for your physical.

STUDENTS:  A cell phone was turned into the office.  Stop in the main office to see if it belongs to you.

COFFEE SHOP:  Due to PSSA retests, we are going to have coffee shop on Tuesday, Oct. 30th and Thursday Nov. 1st.  Pumpkin Spice is the flavor of the month.

STUDENTS & STAFF:  Once again the Sheetz Booklets will be available from Class of 2015 or Drama.  Please don’t be left with out stocking stuffers Christmas is coming cost is 10:00 for a $25.00 booklet of BOGO’s.  Remember good at any and all sheetz stores.

PICTURES:  Remember Friday October 26 is picture day.  1st and 2nd periods.

ATTENTION STAFF & STUDENTS:  due to PSSA retests and the Friday Pep Rally, homeroom will be cancelled this week.

VOLLEYBALL:    The Girls’ Volleyball Team will be playing their first round playoff match against Elizabeth Forward on Thursday.  The match will be at 6:00 p.m. at Bishop Canevin High School.  Hope to see you there.  GO RAIDERS!!!

JUNIORS:  Remember that this Friday is class shirt day.  Junior Class shirts are still available for  $5.00 in room 310.

ARE YOU READY FOR THE HALLOWEEN DANCE???  The dance is next Tuesday night in the cafeteria from 7:00 to 10:00.  Guest forms can be picked up in room 308 or 516.  Get your Scare on!!!  There will be prizes for best costume!!  Tickets are $5.00 and will be on sale during lunches until Monday.

INVISIBLE CHILDREN:  The Invisible Children Club will meet on Wednesday, October 24 after school in the Art Room until 3:30.  We will watch the new documentary “Move” and discuss our trip to D.C. on November 17.

ART CLUB:  meeting on Thursday after school until 4:30 in the Art Room.

ASVAB TEST:  any grade 10,11,or 12 student who wishes to take the ASVAB Test should pick up a permission slip in the Guidance Office.  The test will be given on November 28th.

BOYS BASKETBALL:   There will be an open gym tonight at Ben Franklin from 4:00 to 5:30.

SENIORS:  Please pick up your pretzel rods in room 308 from Miss Carbonara.  All fundraisers help reduce the price of prom tickets.

SOPHOMORES:  It’s not too late to sell a “31 purse item” orders are due the 25th to Mrs. Howarth in room 235.  Remember if everyone would sell just 1 item we would make the money.  See Mrs. Howarth or class officers with questions.

STUDENT COUNCIL:  Since there is no homeroom period this week due to testing, the student council meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1st during extended homeroom in the cafeteria.  All elected homeroom officers – President & Vice President – are asked to attend.

SENIORS:  We are having a senior t-shirt design contest.  Turn your design into Miss Carbonara in 308 before November 2nd.  The winner will receive a free t-shirt.

STUDENT PICTURES:  9TH, 10TH, AND 11TH grade pictures will be on Friday, Oct. 26th. You will be called by homeroom.

FOOTBALL:  Tickets for Friday’s football game with Laurel Highlands will be on sale in the main office Thursday & Friday.  Student tickets are $2.00 and adult tickets are $4.00.  All tickets at Laurel Highlands will be $4.00 at the game.

STUDENTS:  Want to go to Paris and Barcelona?  Meet in the art room, Tuesday, Oct. 23rd at 5:30 p.m.  The trip would be over winter break of next school year.  Parents are welcome to come to the meeting.

WINTER SPORTS PHYSICALS:  Winter sports physicals will be on Oct. 29th at 8:30 a.m. in the health room.  All CIPPE forms or RECERT forms must be turned in to the nurse one week before the scheduled physical date.  Each page of these forms must be filled out completely and signed in the appropriate spaces. You may get the forms in the main office or from the nurse.

STUDENTS:  This week is spirit week!!

  • Thursday, support cancer awareness, wear pink
  • Friday show your school spirit
    1. seniors wear white
    2. juniors wear black
    3. sophomores wear maroon
    4. freshman wear gray

There will be a pep rally!!!  Lets go raiders, beat those mustangs!!

JUNIOR SENIOR DANCE:  This years Junior/Senior dance “Hollywood Nights” is being held on Friday Nov. 16th at the Holiday Inn in Uniontown.  The cost of the tickets is $40.00 per person or $80.00 per couple.  Tickets will be sold Oct. 29th through November 2nd.  All students must have a completed permission slip PRIOR to purchasing a ticket.  Students taking someone that is not a Uniontown student must also have a guest request form filled out.  Both forms can be picked up in the office or in room 210.  You will not be permitted to purchase a ticket without them.

SENIORS:  On Thursday November 1st you will be measured for your cap & gown.  Please be here on time.  We will start at 7:45 a.m.  She will also have t-shirts & hoodies for sale.
